Although once a respected musician in the county, Frici is today struggling to win his daily bread through physical work. This doesn’t stop him from being the soul of the musical gatherings of the village, when invited, and bringing the old days back to life while cursing his faith that had him give up his passion.

At Belgrade airport you see the scare in the children's eyes when they arrive. The gypsy families have just been deported out of Germany. There they were only tolerated. From now on they exploit the waste on the landfill, collect paper, scavenge the street, polish shoes or sell on the flea market. The living at the margin of the society in the slums is often unhygienic or even dangerous. School children become victims of right wing violent criminals. They have to work as street musicians, beggars or prostitutes. There is much resignation, and little hope. The fate of Iva and her dream of becoming a hairdresser form the documentary’s framework.
